OAS "Images '08" Juried Show... Call for Entries...

On August 31 and September 1, the Onslow Art Society will receive entries for its fall juried show, "Images 08." The show will be exhibited in the Bradford Baysden Gallery at the Council for the Arts, 826 New Bridge St., Jacksonville, NC. It will open with a reception on Sunday, September 7 and will be open to the public during regular gallery hours through September 26.

A juried show consists of only the pieces the judge chooses from all the entries. ONLY THOSE PIECES WILL BE EXHIBITED. From this exclusive selection, the awards will be given.

Artists, 18 years or older and not a high school student, are eligible to enter the show. The work must be original, rendered within the past two years, and not shown in a previous OAS competition. All two dimensional work must be dry, framed, WIRED, and ready for hanging. Sawtooth hangers are not acceptable. The piece of art may not exceed 48 inches on any side, INCLUDING THE FRAME. PLEXIGLAS is required on work larger than 30 inches and this INCLUDES THE FRAME. Sculpture may not exceed 50 pounds and any piece considered too fragile or requires special handling will be declined.

Acceptable media are oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, color pencil, pen/ink, pencil, charcoal, gouache, mixed media, photography, printmaking, printed digital art, and 3-D including pottery. No reproductions, including giclee.

Entry times are Sunday, August 31, 1PM-4PM and Monday, September 1, 1PM-4PM.
NO WORK ACCEPTED AFTER THESE DATES AND TIMES.

The juror for this show will be Margaret R. Worthington of Wilmington, NC. Ms. Worthington holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from ECU, Greenville, NC. She served as Curator of Education at St. John’s Museum of Art in Wilmington from 1985 to 1990. She began teaching in the art department of UNCW in 1990. Ms. Worthington is now retired and works full time in her own studio.
